Lathrop graduation Saturday, Plattsburg and EBHS later in June
After nearly three months of uncertainty, missed memories, and an unfortunate speed bump in their learning, the Class of 2020 will soon get a positive ending to its journey.
Seniors at Lathrop High School will walk across the graduation stage this Saturday, June 13, at 11 a.m., followed thereafter by Plattsburg High School seniors on Saturday, June 27, at 7 p.m. and East Buchanan seniors on Sunday, June 28.
After a survey of parents, Lathrop decided to hold graduation sooner rather than later, opting for this Saturday at 11 a.m. If it rains, the district will take another crack at it on Sunday, June 14, at 11 a.m. The ceremonies are being held at the football field, so there will be no restrictions on attendance, though social distancing outside of families will be highly recommended.
For Plattsburg, the late date won’t be the only history-making aspect of this graduation.
Clinton County R-III has set its 2020 graduation for Saturday, June 27, at the new football stadium, moving the annual ceremony outside. The event will begin at 7 p.m., and should it rain, graduation will be the following day at 7 p.m. If it comes together, it would mark the first event held at the new stadium.
Clinton County R-III Superintendent Sandy Steggall said that there will be no restrictions on attendance since graduation will be outside, but that the district will highly recommend social distancing. She added that the football field itself is currently undergoing work and should be sodded this coming weekend.
East Buchanan will have its graduation on Sunday, June 28, though further details are unavailable at this time.
The Clinton County Leader will provide photo coverage of each graduation in the proceeding edition, followed by the publication’s annual special graduation section on Sunday, July 9, honoring all three classes of 2020.
