LEADER EDITOR The community of Plattsburg was shocked this weekend to hear of the passing of longtime Clinton County R-III teacher Brett Dickerson and his wife, Robin. Superintendent Sandy Steggall sent a notification to district patrons on Sunday, July 4, that the Dickersons passed away on Saturday in a motorcycle accident while in Wyoming. “Mr. D was so loved by his students and we know the feeling was mutual,” she wrote. “Death can be difficult for us to understand, especially when it is sudden. Many of us may be confronted with a variety of emotions, which might include shock, sadness and confusion. Please reach out and let us know if you need to talk with Mrs. Kruse. We will also be at school all week if you want to stop by and talk.” Beyond teaching at Plattsburg, Dickerson was a beloved coach, including basketball and golf. He was an assistant on the 2019 basketball team that went to the Final Four and, that same year, led the golf team to its first district championship in nearly two decades. Dickerson was also at the heart of the school's efforts to become one of Missouri's top rural schools when it came to technology education. When the pandemic struck last fall, Dickerson used open-sourced blue prints to 3D print medical-grade face shield frames and other items for health facilities throughout the metro. The Clinton County Leader will have more on this tragic loss in this week's edition. |
