Tinsel Tastes Good To Dee Ann Strong.
Picture
Dee Ann Strong, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jon Strong, was one year old the 24th of November. Just the right age to pull the tinsel from the tree and break a few ornaments. She has three brothers, Randy, Jon Jr., and Greg, and one sister Sandy who keeps her informed about Santa Claus and from un-doing packages before Christmas.
The Camera Interests Twins More Than Gifts
Picture
Gifts will come in pairs at the Cliff Linthicum household this year for the identical twin daughters, Leasa and Treasa. The girls are eighteen months old, so Christmas is still a mystery, as well as Santa Claus.

Plattsburg decorating contest winners announced
For the second year in a row, The Wooden Dove took first place in the Business Christmas Decoration Contest, sponsored by “plattsburgmo.com”. Although web voting in general was down quite a bit from last year, mass supporters of The Wooden Dove logged on to the website to show their support, beating out their competition by nearly 70 votes.

Coming in second place for the businesses was the Senior Center, with their display of deer and nostalgic toys and rounding out third place was the Clinton County Extension with a green garland and red bow display.

The Wooden Dove will be rewarded with a gift certificate for a spiral ham and their name will be engraved on the traveling plaque that will continue to be displayed in their store.

In the home decorating contest, the first place winner was Dan and Beth Shepherd, 517 E. Concord; second place when to Jack and Debra Gibson, 109 Carter and third place was filled by Darrell and Sylvia Conner, 6326 NW Bethany Church Road. Gower Welcomes Christmas, Busby named Person of the Year

Picture
The annual Christmas in the Park was this past weekend, including the drawings for the Shop Local campaign, a nativity scene, the Mayor’s Christmas Tree lighting, announcement of the person of the year and more.

With a strong wind blowing and temperatures in the low thirties, approximately 125 Gower residents gathered in City Park to watch the reenactment of the Nativity scene, sing Christmas carols and witness the lighting of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree during the annual Christmas in the Park.

The evening began with a prayer by Gower Baptist Minister Seth Mason. The crowd then sang Christmas carols, led by East Buchanan Choir Director Mark Pennington and the East Buchanan choir. Next was the annual Gower Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting. Person of the Year Jenni Busby assisted Mayor Chip Homan in throwing the switch.

The crowd then moved inside the Gower Masonic Lodge for the Gower Area Chamber of Commerce’s drawing for the Shop Local Campaign, as well as the formal announcement of the chamber’s Person of the Year.
Five prizes were awarded in drawing, including three gift baskets valued at over $600 and two gift certificates, each valued at $500.

The baskets were filled with products and gift cards provided by local businesses. The two gift certificates were provided by Backwoods 222 Venue and 4-Lands Sake. The winners of the gift baskets were Beth Burbick, Kim Thompson, and Jackie Musser.  Dan McCarney won the $500 gift certificate to Backwoods 222, and Jessica Knight was the winner of the $500 gift from 4-Lands Sake.
After the winners were drawn and announced, Mayor Holman and Chamber President Julie Burnes announced the Gower Person of the Year - East Buchanan Elementary Counselor Jenni Busby.

Mrs. Busby is instrumental in making Gower a great place to live, which is part of the mission statement of the Gower Area Chamber of Commerce. She is instrumental in continuing to ensure that those that need assistance get it through the Bulldog Backpack program, said Mayor Holman.
