1971FFA Dairy judging team to National Contest The East Buchanan FFA of Gower, Dairy Cattle Judging Team, will represent Missouri in the National FFA Contest which will be held next fall in Kansas City, MO.
The Dairy Cattle Judging Team won the right to represent Missouri in the National Contest by first qualifying in the Northwest Missouri District Contest in which they placed first. The top 60 teams from the six districts competed in the state contest. East Buchanan also took first place honors in the state contest held in Columbia and won the right to represent Missouri in the national contest. Members of the team are: John Kline, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles G. Kline, Agency; Danny McPhee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed McPhee, Hemple; Charles Grier, son of Mr and Mrs. Charles Grier, Gower; and Wayne Grier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Grier, Hemple. The team was coached by Harold Sherwood, vocational agriculture instructor at East Buchanan High School, Gower, MO. 1971 Receives 50-Year Pin from P.E.O. Miss Bess Gant has been a member of Chapter DF PEO for 50 years. A reception was held in her honor last Thursday evening at Oakridge with representatives of the chapter present. She was presented a pearl 50 year pin by the chapter president, Mrs. Emmett Fulkerson.
Honeycutts to become 10th owners since 1895 D’Anna and Jamey Honeycutt (left) are the new owners of The Clinton County Leader, purchasing the publication (and its shopper, The Paper) from Steve and Sue Tinnen. The Tinnen family has owned The Leader since 1969, first by the late Skip and Franc E. Tinnen, then by Steve and Sue beginning in 2001. Both Jamey and D’Anna have spent their working lives in the newspaper industry.
