January 26 Chair Yoga at the Community Courtyard, 117 W. Maple, Street, Plattsburg. Begins at 10 a.m. Open to all ages. Gower Mayor Chip Holman and Alderman Zach Craft will be taking on “The Beast,” in an attempt to raise money for the Gower Parks and Recreation Department’s non-profit community efforts. The two will try to eat as many pieces as possible of a 29-inch Simple Simon’s pizza – The Beast – in 45 minutes, and are asking citizens to pledge either $1 or $5 per slices eaten, with the funds going to the town’s parks and recreation. This challenge will take place at Simple Simon’s Pizza in Gower starting promptly at 7 p.m. In conjunction with this event, Simple Simon’s Pizza will be donating 20 percent of its sales from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. the same evening to parks and recreation. The Beast consists of 72 oz. of dough, 32 oz. of cheese and 200 slices of pepperoni, or 16 oz. of any other toppings. If the two city officials can consume the entire pizza in the 45 minutes allowed, the pizza is free. If their attempt is not successful, then Chip and Pam Holman have pledged to cover the cost of the pizza, personally. Chip and Zach invite everyone to come to Simple Simon’s Pizza on the 26 to see if they can successfully tame ‘The Beast” and witness their attempt. January 27
